Fort Seward

Come hear the stories of what life was like for the men and women at Fort Seward and in early Jamestown.

Fort Seward was in operation from 1872 to 1877. The historic Jamestown location houses an interpretive center, displaying items from firearms to artifacts excavated on site. The fort also holds the title for the largest United States flag on display in North Dakota. Other attractions include the Veterans Memorial Wall and Walk, a paved walkway featuring bricks that honor those who have served, and a beautiful view overlooking the City of Jamestown.

Fort Seward offers a variety of camping options, including spaces for RVs and tents, as well as the opportunity to step back in time with Historical Camping. Fort Seward’s unique tent city provides hands-on experiences as well as spectacular photo opportunities.

Other activities include weekly programs geared towards children, providing both valuable learning opportunities and fun experiences.

From an overnight stay to a quick picnic at one of the shelters, Fort Seward truly is an inviting location with something for everyone.
